Would banana pudding taste good as a layer in a white cake? (vanilla pudding with fresh bananas)

I am really not a good baker and have basically only made cupcakes, but it is my fathers birthday and I am baking him a cake for his birthday and I really want it to be good. Will this work?

I didn’t want to go with just a basic white cake so i figured this might give it a little funk. Any advice or recipes would be great.

Thx so much!

It is a very good idea. A couple of suggestions – make a sheet cake and poke (1/2 inch diameter) holes in it…then pour your prepared pudding on top.

It will seep into the holes and make your cake moist. It is also a very pretty preparation. Also, if you are putting bananas into the pudding, note that they may brown slightly when exposed to the air like apples.

I have three ripe banana’s, besides banana bread which I always make what would be a good banana dessert I could make? Any recipes with cool whip?

You can never go wrong with homemade banana pudding made from scratch!

It is oh so good served warm or cold!

This is a great way to use up ripe bananas, especially if you are unable to eat them at the time. The recipe is for a healthier banana ice cream than the straight store bought variety.

Ingredients:

2 ripe bananas

2 scoops of vanilla ice cream

Few drops of vanilla essence

Method:

1. Peel the bananas, slice them up and lay on a baking tray in the freezer.

2. Once frozen bag the banana chips for use later or use them in this recipe.

3. Place the banana chips in your blender with a chopping blade.

4. Add the scoops of ice cream and vanilla essence.

5. Blend until the mixture is smooth.

6. Serve in dessert dish or parfait glass, and decorate as you choose.

Banana sorbet is a great way to use up those bananas that are very ripe and you have not had time to eat. The sorbet can be substituted for ice cream and is delicious sprinkled with chopped nuts, or served on a bed or pureed berries or kiwifruit.

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana
A drop or two of vanilla (optional)

Method:

1. Peel the banana and cut it into chunks.

2. Place the chunks, uncovered, on a tray or plate in the freezer for an hour or more (overnight is fine).

3. When you would like to serve, take out the banana and put the frozen pieces into a blender or food processor, until smooth.

4. Scrape down the sides as necessary until the banana texture becomes smooth and creamy.

5. Serve in a dish and decorate to your taste.

Banana Sorbet Serves 1 Can be simply multiplied for more servings.
